Disclaimer: This is the second part of this series and it covers a few other things that has been brought up in Celebrity Culture (click HERE to read)

1. Fragmented image

What does it mean? Well, a celebrity has an image to uphold but most of the time it may not be the true self of that individual. When Yuuri did Eros, both Victor and Nishigori noted this point by saying that it is another image of Yuuri. Many has known him for the insecure skater he is but in this particular program, we see the more confident side of him. Now, the question is which one’s the real Yuuri? Hard to say because both are him.

Watching Yuri!!! On ICE From A Media Student’s Point Of View

Hello everyone! In this post, I will be looking at Yuri!!! on ICE and compare it with some of the communication theories I’m familiar with, including Celebrity Culture.

Celebrity Culture has always been a fascinating thing that we consume daily and one of the activities we do is idolize our celebrities. In their studies, Engle and Kasser (2005) reported that celebrity idolization can be disregarded as a harmless hobby among the fans that has taken place for quite some time.

However, they also pointed out that this remarkable behaviour is something that researchers could look into. It can also be regarded as a leisure activity and somewhat of an interest for fans towards their favourite celebrity. Likewise, our protagonist Katsuki Yuri has also admired Victor Nikiforov as a fan.

Okaerinasaimase ojousama, goshujinsama… KON! – La Petite Fox Cafe at Comic Fiesta 2016

Kon kon! In this article, we shall bring you something new before Comic Fiesta 2016! With just ONE DAY away from one of Malaysia’s biggest events, here is an introduction about a rather new edition to the event, the La Petite Fox Cafe!

Founded by the Comic Fiesta team back in 2015, the La Petite Fox Cafe made its debut during the 2015 Comic Fiesta Mini in Penang. The main reason Comic Fiesta decided to start a maid and butler café was so that fans would be able to experience a Japanese Butler and Maid Café experience in Malaysia.

Interview with Yau and Kuratsu

As we enter the second week of November, let us recall the events that took place in October! One of the events that we have attended is MGACE! During this event, we had the opportunity to interview two of its guests. All the way from busy Hong Kong, we have YAU and her partner Kuratsu!

Note: The coolest part of the experience is that Kuratsu acted as a translator for Yau! And a pretty good one too! There may be some parts of the interview that is combined because it was written based on Kuratsu’s translations and she herself also answered these questions.

B Project VS Tsukiuta: What’s the Difference?

Konnichiwa minna! In this review, I will be comparing two series that ended at the same time, B Project and Tsukiuta.

Tsukiuta the Animation features 12 idols of two rivaling/sibling groups that are under the same company, the Tsukino Production. Both groups live under the same dorm and each episode features a different idol(s) as the main character.

B Project: Kodou no Ambitious, features Sumisora Tsubasa, a new hire in the A&R department of the major recording company Gandala Music. In the anime, the viewers can get a glimpse of how she manages the 3 idol groups being assigned to her, namely: THRIVE, Moons and Kitakore.

PSA: Cosplayers Are People Too!!

Cosplay is a hobby where people portray their favourite characters. However, outside the world of cosplay holds a sad truth. Like the LGBT community, cosplayers also suffer stereotypes and bullying just for doing what they love.

To bring this matter to light, I had a talk with Kelly who recently conducted a rather eye opening project, with the name “Cosplayers’ Real Life Occupations”. She launched this project in hopes to bring awareness to the insecurities cosplayers face.
